Nigerian automotive manufacturer, Nord Automobiles has announced chess master, Mr. Tunde Onakoya as its global ambassador.
Nord made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter on Thursday, stressing that Onakoya has demonstrated the stance of the company that Nigerians can do exploits irrespective of where they are born and raised.
“We are proud to announce @Tunde_OD as our global ambassador. This is in alignment with our pursuit of excellence and vision to contribute to building a greater and more prosperous nation.
“Tunde’s remarkable work in helping young kids find purpose through chess embodies the spirit of vision and execution. His journey to New York to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess game has showcased his dedication and determination.
“Tunde has proven to the world what we at Nord have always believed: that you can be born and raised in Nigeria and still achieve global success. We are truly world-class,” the company said.
It expressed satisfaction, stating that it is incredibly honoured to welcome Tunde Onakoya to the Nord family.

Onakoya, the founder of Chess in Slums Africa recorded the longest-ever chess marathon after completing 60 hours at Times Square in New York, United States on Saturday, April 20.
He surpassed Norwegian players, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who played for 56 hours, 9 minutes in 2018 to claim the new Guinness World Record (GWR).
